Rhythmic Gymnastics EC – 6th and 8th place for Elena Vukmir

A good sixth and eight place on the Budapest Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships. At the Papp Laszlo Sportarena on the continental competition’s Junior part Elena Vukmir went to the final in two apparatus.

First she went on the floor with hoops and became 8th with 27.900, then with ball she got the 6th place. This routine scored 29.900 points.The gold medal went with hoop went to Amalia Lica from Romania, followed by Alona Tal Franco from Israel and Olivia Maslov from Poland. Amalia Lica won the clubs and the ribbon final too.

Amalia Lica: “I felt really good and I felt it’s worth all the time in the hall and everything just came to place when I was there. It was a tough competition and I felt really good for this medals and I’m so happy for them.”

Silver medalist on clubs was earned by Alja Ponikvar from Slovenia and bronze by Alona Tal Franco from Israel. Ribbon’s second place was earned by Dara Malinova from Bulgaria, the third place by Barbare Kajaia from Georgia. Maayan Sumkin Meital from Israel won the ball finals, followed by Anna Piergentili from Italy and Magdaleni Valkova from Bulgaria.

Maayan Sumkin Meital: “I’m very satisfied it was a great routine, I did my best.”

Seniors had started with two apparatus on Thursday also. Fanni Pigniczki earned a spot in the finals on one apparatus. The two time Olympian, World Championship medalist made the finals with ball. With hoops she became the first reserve. When the Hungarians stepped on the floor huge plaudit came along.

Fanni Pigniczki: “I’m more of a loner. I try to close out everything but these loud sounds, clapping and cheering are hard to close out so I tried to use them they way they could help me. Naturally they helped a lot during the routines but before them when I went in and I noticed it was my turn and all the fans were cheering for me, my legs started to shake a bit because of the plaudit. All in all it affected me very positively and helped me on the floor.”

On Friday clubs and ribbons qualifiers will open the day for seniors.
